Joint release with Minister for Foreign Affairs Marise Payne

Today we launch the G’Day USA program of events for 2019.

Now entering its 16th year, G’Day USA, is Australia’s annual public and economic diplomacy program promoting the best of Australian ideas, invention and talent to audiences across the United States.

Commencing in January 2019 in Los Angeles, G’Day USA events will span foreign policy, defence and security, cyber, trade, tourism and investment, creative industries and education.

G’Day USA will demonstrate the power of Australian ideas through events such as the US-Australia Dialogue on Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific in Washington DC; and an expanded ‘Australia House’ showcase at the annual South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

The inaugural G’Day USA US-Australia Dialogue on Cyber Security in San Francisco will bring together cyber experts across government, private and non-profit sectors, strengthening cyber security cooperation and enhancing networks in both countries.

Also new in 2019, the Tourism Forum in Los Angeles will look to continue to build on the current momentum from the ‘Dundee’ campaign in the United States, and look at strategies to ensure Australia is front of mind when US travellers are planning their next overseas holiday.

G’Day USA will again recognise the contributions leading Australians make to their fields in United States. Among those to be honoured in 2019 will be renowned singer Helen Reddy, actor Liam Hemsworth, and Emmy Award-winning production designer and art director Deborah Riley.

We look forward to supporting G’Day USA events during the year ahead, and to working with G’Day USA’s many sponsors and partners in Australia and the United States.
