Australian brands will now have exposure to hundreds of millions of extra potential customers with the launch of the Australian online store on Amazon India.
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Simon Birmingham who launched the new online store in Mumbai today, said the Australian store on Amazon India would be a game-changer for Australian brands in India.
“Thousands of Australian food, health and lifestyle brands will now be available at the click of a button in the world’s fastest growing consumer market, thanks to this partnership,” Minister Birmingham said.
“Having a dedicated one-stop-shop for Australian brands on one of the largest online marketplaces in India is a huge win for Australian businesses. Amazon has the highest share of customers across all marketplaces in a country of 1.3 billion people. That represents eye-watering potential for many Australian businesses.
“Australia enjoys a brand synonymous with quality and safety. This partnership will help Indian consumers seeking our safe and high quality products to connect with those who are proudly making them in Australia.
“With more than 450 million internet users across the nation and India’s retail environment changing, it’s vital Australian brands are readily available and accessible.
“This partnership will make it easier and more cost-effective for Australian brands looking to expand into India and give Australian brands more exposure in the one of the fastest growing economies.
“With consumers seeking premium food, health and lifestyle products, there is enormous potential for Australian products to capitalise.
“This is a major win for Australian brands and an exciting step in building Australia’s commercial profile in the booming Indian economy.
“I urge Australian exporters who are looking for more opportunities in India to get in touch with Austrade about how they can list their products on the dedicated Australian store on Amazon India.”
The launch of the Australian store on Amazon India is part of Austrade’s Australia-India Business Exchange (AIB-X) happening in India this week.
