New Services Australia building in Adelaide CBD to deliver jobs bonanza and better services for South Australians
The Morrison Government has today announced that Services Australia will be the major tenant at the new 60 King William Street development in Adelaide’s CBD in what will be a jobs bonanza for the state.
The 10-year lease will allow Services Australia to consolidate five of its non-customer facing Adelaide office tenancies into the new building being developed by Charter Hall Group on King William Street, slated for completion in the second half of 2023. It’s expected that more than 1,500 local jobs will be created during the construction phase
Minister for Government Services, Stuart Robert, said the new investment demonstrates Services Australia’s ongoing commitment to providing updated facilities in order to provide the best services for Australians.
“The new Adelaide CBD building will accommodate staff from a range of areas in the agency, allowing for greater collaboration and support, which will in turn, offer better support for Australians,’ Minister Robert said.
”Services Australia is committed to making its services simple, helpful, respectful and transparent and the new building will allow the agency to continue delivering high-quality services for customers Australia-wide.”
Senator for South Australia and Finance Minister Simon Birmingham welcomed this major commitment by Services Australia that will unlock thousands of jobs and provide a major boost for the South Australian economy.
“This iconic new development teamed with the long-term commitment by Services Australia couldn’t come at a more important time for our state,” Minister Birmingham said.
“This development is going to be a jobs bonanza for South Australia – it won’t only create around 1500 jobs during the construction phase but will also support thousands of ongoing jobs in the CBD after its completion.
“We shouldn’t discount the positive flow-on effects this development will have for businesses in the Adelaide CBD at a time when they need it most. It will bring thousands of more people into the CBD helping to support businesses who have been doing it incredibly tough.”
It’s expected more than 2,200 Services Australia staff will relocate to 60 King William Street in 2023.
The proposed consolidation will not impact any face-to-face customer services or reduce the agency workforce. Services Australia will make further announcements on the final plan, closer to the scheduled opening in 2023.
